Grade 7 Transition Information

Burnie High School is pleased to provide you with the details of our 2023 Grade 6 to Grade 7 Transition Program. We know that the transition from primary school to high school is a time that students anticipate with nervous excitement. In the coming months your child will get to know key Burnie High School staff and student leaders and be provided with a number of opportunities to experience the school’s learning programs.

Transition Coordinators Ms Maree Welsh & Mr Ben Lohrey along with Assistant Principals Mr James Thompson & Ms Sheree Hodgetts have already visited your child’s school as an introduction to the transition process, and a tour of Burnie High School will occur later in Term 2.

Enrolment Information

We are currently finalising enrolments from all our feeder schools Burnie Primary, Cooee Primary, Somerset Primary and Natone Primary School. Expressions of interest for enrolment into Grade 7, 2024, from students not currently attending one of the primary schools listed above can be made by completing the Click_here_to_access_the_BHS_Grade_7_Enrolment_indicator_form_2024.pdf and Out of Area Enrolment Form and returned to the BHS office or by email to burnie.high@decyp.tas.gov.au by Monday 4 September.

Students will be transported to and from Burnie High School and accompanied by their Grade 6 teachers. Dates will be provided later in the year.

Orientation Day

On Thursday 30 November, Grade 6 students will attend Burnie High School to experience a ‘typical school day’. Each student will receive a timetable for the day and be supported by Grade 9 student leaders and 2023 teachers.
